We all know that we need to look after our planet, but we want our Wedding day to be extravagant and amazing. So here are some ideas that give you the best of both worlds and are usually also better for your budget.
Invites: Here you have a choice, the ultimate eco-friendly way to invite people to your Wedding is to try getting your invitations printed on recyclable paper.
Location, location, location. This is just as important for Weddings as it is for business. Choose a location that most of your friends and family can get to easily as this saves on transportation costs, you could even encourage your guests to car pool. Also try picking a location where you can have your Wedding and reception on the same property because this saves on transport costs and emissions. Having your Wedding outdoors also saves on heating, cooling and lighting costs.
If you have everything you need for your new home why not ask your guests to donate to charity or plant a tree in your honour. Your guest favours can also follow these lines, why not hand paint pot plants for your guests, not only will this help the planet but also be a very special thoughtful gift.
Donate your Wedding receptions left overs, I am sure the Salvation Army would really appreciate it.
Local is lekker: by buying local products you aren't shipping things from a long way away, so research what flowers and foods are locally produced. You will also be saving money as it hasn't had to travel very far.
Throw seed not rice. Why not feed the birds on your Wedding day and have your guests throw birdseed instead of rice, it is also safer for your guests.
Remember like your Wedding day memories, we want the Earth to be around a long time.

Trash The Dress, to hire or buy
Why should you buy your wedding dress when you can hire it?

That is the question most brides ask themselves. Well you could always keep it for your child but as some of us know our mothers taste is completely different to ours. Or you could like Miss Haversham from Great expectations wear it on occasion.

Hiring seems to be the better option because you don't have to keep the dress, but you are still paying quite a lot of money for a dress you don't get to keep. Not to mention the care you need to take on your wedding day because you have to return the dress. 
  
Here is my suggestion rather buy your dress and then...why not Trash the dress?  

This doesn't mean you have to tear it up and rip it to shreds, although if you want to...
It could be something as simple as having your wedding pictures taken with you on a horse or as daring as jumping into a lake.

Every bride wants her wedding and her dress to be special and beautiful. So why settle for the same old boring wedding photos when you can look like an ethereal princess floating in the water or riding into the sunset with your prince on the back of a horse.

The beauty of trash the dress is that the photographer takes it only as far as you are willing to go, while ensuring your photos look beautiful. So be as outrageous or cautious as you want just find the perfect photographer.

So ladies if you want pictures that are out of this world, then buy your dress and trash it!


Remember you are the Belle of your ball and your photos too.

We decided to join Malaysia Weddings when we went for a wedding fair in Cyberjaya. What attracted us to be a member is the selection of participating service providers under this program.

Members are able to enjoy discounts from the service providers, such as for cakes, favors, hair and makeup, stationeries, photography and financial planning.

It is worth mentioning that most of the service providers are considered the top, or one of the top in the wedding industry in Malaysia.

The membership fee is affordable (only RM 50 when we sign up, fee could vary after that), compared to the amount of money that we are able to save along the way.

However, the membership period is only for a year, starting from the date we registered.

This is where all of our studio pictures were taken. On top of that, they gave us one free outdoor photoshoot (TTDI). Their policy is, only one photo-shoot a day (maybe they don't have enough manpower), and full payment on sign-up. But, full payment on sign-up seems unfair. So, after negotiating with their GM, we all agreed to pay as the work progresses.

TOM had a wide collection of gowns, and these gowns are categorised into two groups, namely "luxury" and "collection". Collection gowns appeared to be more "superior" than the luxury gowns. Even the rental of collection gowns is more expensive than luxury gowns! The price of their package also will determine how many luxury and/or collection gowns you get to choose for the photo shoot.

But do not worry about the type of gowns you will get, because on the day I choose my gown, I ended up getting four collection gowns and one luxury gowns, compared to the original package of 2 collection and 3 luxury gowns.
Their car decoration was more than what we expected! We saw other studio's car decoration and we do not really like it. However, when TOM put on the decoration on our car, we were impressed and happy with it!

Overall, we are very satisfied with the products from TOM, although we took the biggest risk in signing up with them without surveying other bridal studio around (we heard that all bridal studio staff are very convincing people).

Our few regrets were :

1) Not asking for RAW pictures files. They gave us high quality JPEG instead.
2) Not negotiating for more free stuff (e.g. flowers, more pictures)

Lee Kien is very kind to bring me to visit a few florists, armed with a few thick bridal magazines to show them what kind of flowers I want for my wedding day.

After looking at some of the wedding flowers that they have arranged before, I was still not convinced to engaged them, until we went to One Red Lily in Bangsar.

We did not know that visits are supposed to be by appointment only, but they are kind enough to entertain us.




I immediately fell in love with their flower arrangements when I saw the many albums of flower arrangement photographs. One Red Lily scored a lot in terms of having a lot of photographs for its customers' reference.
Besides quoting us the price of their products, they are also willing to work around our budget and to provide us the best for the budget that we have.

I am very satisfied with my wedding bouquet, the bridesmaids' bouquets, flowers on pew's end (in the Church), and the corsages =)

I have two different wedding gowns, one for the church ceremony, and another for the lunch reception.

For the former, it is rented from the bridal studio where Lee Kien and I took our pre-wedding photos.

As for the lunch reception gown, it is made to measure by Pretty In White.

I have to admit that made to measure gowns are really expensive, depending on the style, materials and complexity to make it. I went to Silk Street to choose the lace for my dress with one of the designers!

Besides gowns, you can also find custome made shoes, veils and ring pillows in Pretty In White.

So, which one should we have? The dummy cake or the real thing?

I don't think I have eaten any edible wedding cake before despite having been to a few weddings.

Wedding cakes had a makeover since the last time I saw them, and undoubtedly, they really look nicer now with all the pretty sugar frosting and delicately handcrafted decorative flowers, etc.

We went to Choffles cake studio and have a look at their masterpieces. There were just too many patterns to choose from and believe me, it is a very difficult decision to make when you like more than one designs. Besides, you can bring your own design for them to custom make for you.

The price for wedding cake is also more expensive than the whole Secret Recipe cakes. Wedding cake could cost RM 100 for 1kg! It mainly depends on how many tiers you want (the more tiers, the heavier) and not so much on the patterns.

There are quite big selection such as chocolate mud, chocolate brownie, rich butter, moist fruitcake, etc.

Your wedding day is the culmination of endless preparations and yet in many instances the least importance is given to the most important keepsake of the wedding- the photographs. The beautiful wedding dress, the lovely bride, the joyous family and the handsome groom – will only remain a vivid memory in people’s minds if not captured in film.

At Kbridals, we are passionate about wedding photography and try to capture the essence and emotion which is unique to each wedding. Our photography is about beauty, love, fun, glamour, emotion, drama, the list could go on. Our aim is to provide you with totally unique images that are as individual as you and the day you have planned. OUR STUDIO

Our state of the art facilities in Defence, Karachi offer a wide array of backdrops, from regal Victorian to sophisticated chaise lounge settings, from romantic early 20th century brick walls to a fantasy world of fairy lights. Zainab, our design specialist, individually choreographs each setting keeping in mind your mood and personality to help create beautiful and striking images for you both to remember this once in a lifetime experience.

THE K BRIDALS EXPERIENCE

Our exceptional customer service separates us from others. We pride ourselves on the personalized attention that we give to every couple that books with us. Your initial meeting will be with either Kashif or Zainab where you will not only have a chance to go through our beautiful sample albums but can discuss any special requests that you may have for your wedding day in a relaxed and stress free environment. 

We like to get to know both of you before the final day so that you are completely relaxed and at ease with our studio and us. We will discuss in detail your requirements and preferences at this meeting and will answer any queries that you may have about the session. Feel free to let us know what type of pictures you like, whether you prefer crisp and sharp images or soft and dreamy ones or a mixture of both. We are interested to know your preference in music which we feel plays a vital role in creating the right mood and level of comfort at the photo shoot. We will also discuss which poses you are comfortable with to avoid any awkward moments at the final session.

We understand that the wedding and valima days are amongst the most stressful days of your lives. At KBridal Studio, we try and create a friendly and relaxed atmosphere with familiar music in the background and your choice of nibbles to alleviate some of that stress. We aim to capture beautiful, fleeting expressions that give a true meaning to your relationship.

ABOUT KASHIF

Kashif, the owner and main photographer at KBridals, has extensive experience not only in wedding photography but also in commercial and fashion photography. His work has been published in top fashion magazines, including She, Visage, Face On, Herald, Xpose, Mag, GT to name afew and has received rave reviews. He has worked with most of the top designers of the country including Nadya Mistry, Nadya James Abedi, Deepak Perwani, Muneeb Nawaz amongst others. Kashif has worked not only in Pakistan, but also in the UK with world renowned fashion photographer Bruce Smith. His creative imagery, obsessive attention to detail and expertise with the camera has helped produce inspired images which are truly worth a thousand words. 

OUR BESPOKE ALBUMS

At KBridal Studio, you have a choice of exquisite traditional style album elegance or contemporary, magazine style Album Prestige. Our Album Elegance is a more conventional style wedding album with mats overlaying the images giving it a classic look. Each leaf is individually designed by Zainab using elegant layouts that feature symmetry and simplicity to create a beautiful look. 

Stylish Album Prestige are modern looking albums where your images are printed directly onto a page and then bound in the form of a book. The book opens to reveal stunning wedding photographs pasted across the entire page. The cover is also specially designed incorporating an image of your wedding dress border to create a stunning yet timeless finish.

‘It was one special experience on the most special day of our lives. The wedding shoot was more formal and rich in colors gratifying the occasion. One of the best thing about both shoots (Wedding and Valima), which probably makes Kashif a unique photographer as well, is the fact that he gives you a friendly and a very casual environment. To us, the entire shoot was fun, filled with plenty of casual conversations, charismatic music in the background and the crunchy ‘SLIMS’ being served during the whole time. I would highly recommend this experience to all prospective grooms/brides to go for this amazing experience. The albums are unique and artistic using different designs of art work. The photos, most important of everything, with minimum artificial ‘conventional photo makeup’ (which I guess is not much appreciated these days), truly represent the magnitude of the occasion.
